We Need to Hear From You!

As we begin to prepare for a return to the court, it's essential we hear from everyone who was involved at the club last season - and anyone looking to join us next year.

An email has been sent to all mailing list subscribers and club members, the content of which is also available below...

Member Survey

Our annual member survey has simply never been more important.

Previously, this survey has focused on gathering feedback and member satisfaction. Now, as we've not had a season, we need to use it to plan for 2021/22 and several other projects ahead, too.

The survey should take less than 5 minutes, and the information is essential in helping us to plan for next season. The risk (if the survey is not completed) is that we might not continue to run all of the teams/sessions that we had planned to. So please, take a few minutes and give us some information.

If you're a parent of a junior player, please take the survey here.

If you're a Senior player at the club (part of Get Back Into or any of our Senior teams), please take the survey here.

It's also really important to take the survey if you're not intending to join the club next season - as again, this helps our volunteer workforce to better understand the community we're serving.

Lastly, if you have more than one person in your household associated with the club, please complete separate surveys for each person.

Thank you!

Summer Camp

Discussions have begun with venues as to a potential Summer Camp taking place in August 2021.

Assuming there is sufficient interest, this will be open to Junior Members, and we will look to share more information shortly.

If your child is interested in attending Summer Camp, please complete the Junior Member Survey - as this is one of the questions, and the decision as to whether camp will take place this year will be based on the responses we receive!

Rebounding from COVID-19: Can you help?

We are a volunteer-led club, and last week, we shared some of the challenges we face post-COVID. If you've not already had a look, the video is only a couple of minutes long.

We had prepared for a season which hasn't happened. This included purchasing new kit and equipment and paying competition entry fees.

Some of those things (kit, temperature equipment, etc.) are bound to come in handy moving forwards, and some of those fees will be refundable / rolled forwards. However, some of them are not.

As such, it's never been a more important time for us to recruit volunteers and raise funds.

In terms of our volunteer base, we are always looking for coaches and officials across the club. Specifically in our Men's National League side, we're looking for Strength & Conditioning Coaches, and a Performance Analyst. Across the club, we're looking for more photographers and videographers, as well as social event/fundraising co-ordinators, social media managers and a webmaster.

At present, a lot of that work is carried out by a very small group of people.

Our club has grown... our volunteer base must grow alongside it, if we're to continue.

In terms of funding, whilst we've not been able to be on the court, we've still been active in applying for funding opportunities, and have secured over £2000.00 in funding from the Miller Trust and Suffolk Sports to contribute towards the costs of the sport for our members who come from a lower income household, get free school lunches, etc. We've also had acceptance in principle on a larger grant linked to youth social action - which will enable a number of our younger members to obtain basketball-specific qualifications, and to use them in the club environment.

Though it should be said that our best source of funding has always been our members, their families and our alumni! Almost all of our club sponsors have some history with our club - and we're grateful that they choose to give back in this way. Of course, we're always seeking more sponsors, too, and more information is available here.

Lastly, there's the option to become a Booster. For less than the cost of a takeaway, you can help support our club. More information is available on the sponsorship link above, or you can go to our homepage and click the "donate" button.
