About Us
We are West Suffolk's longest-running basketball programme, and the only club in the county to offer local league basketball for both junior and senior members. We are a volunteer-led organisation, and have two teams entering the National Basketball League in the 2019/20 season, and are the only Clubmark-accredited basketball club in West Suffolk, demonstrating that we offer a higher standard of coaching, welfare and club management.
We believe in the positive impact of sport on the lives of young people, and as an organisation, we believe that basketball helps to teach positive life skills, such as communication, leadership, resilience, commitment, respect and working as part of a team.
Our culture defines us and drives us forwards, and we're governed by three core values:
-
Work Hard: We expect our members to work as hard as they can to improve, all the time, as players and team-mates.
-
Have Fun: We love basketball, and we want our members to feel that same sense of excitement and joy that we do, every time they set foot on-court.
-
Get Better: We believe that if everybody is focused on becoming the best player and team-mate they can be, that our club will also constantly be improving and that the legacy of this will be that the club is better for each generation that follows.
We consider these values fundamental in ensuring that we play the right way, and that we provide our community with a club that they can be proud to support. Moreover, we believe that our approach works - it's why we've been providing basketball coaching in Bury St. Edmunds since 1983, and why more than two-thirds of our Senior team players have come through the club as juniors.
Our aim is to grow the game across our region, and to be a club who offers Ball for All.
We presently offer basketball for players aged 10+ across a growing programme.
