The Bulldogs Under 17's team opened 2019 against two difficult opponents in the Anglian Basketball Association league.
Their opener was against an experienced Great Yarmouth outfit.
Bulldogs didn't quite have the manpower to match-up against their foes, despite the best efforts of Patrick Ambrose who carried the offensive load for the Suffolk side as they fell 57-35.
The Bulldogs then faced a Lynn Nets side who were strongly reinforced and revitalised following the exit of their neighbours, Kings Lynn Basketball, from the competition.
This was a lower scoring affair, with rookie big man Jacob Rhodes finding his rhythm at both ends of the floor in a tough 44-22 loss.
"We were short-handed today" said Coach Seb Benford
"Although we didn't get the results we would have liked, our guys gave their absolute all throughout, improved as the day went on. We really wanted to honour John Symons with our performances today - and the way the guys played for one another and how hard they worked, I can't help but feel it'd have been the kind of performance that John would have been proud of."
