It was the Bulldogs' first game in almost a month, and the lack of match sharpness saw them fall ten points behind in the opening five minutes. They rallied, however, and pulled back to within four as the first quarter ended. The Raptors continued to shoot well through the second quarter, and extended their lead to 46-33 at the half.
This continued as the second half started, and Cambourne extended their lead to 21 points, but once again the Suffolk side fought back, as good team defence led to fast break points before a flurry of threes cut the deficit in half, as Bulldogs trailed 65-55 with one quarter to go. With momentum on Bury's side, the Bulldogs continued to cut into the lead, but a strong finish from the hosts saw them pull away in the closing minutes.
David Wise (18), Sonjay Williams (18) and Jason Sykes (12) led the scoring for Bury.
"It was a tough, physical game." said player-coach, Wise, "ultimately, we weren't consistent enough over the four quarters, and they outshot us."
Bulldogs are next in action in the Suffolk Senior League, away against MERU 2.
