Bury St. Edmunds Basketball Club are delighted to announce the signing of Coach Benn Wathey to the club.

Coach Wathey is the current UK Army National Team Head Coach, and Head Coach of REME Basketball - for whom long-time Bulldog Jimmy Steedman also plays.

Formerly an Aspire Coach in the South West and a member of the Newcastle Eagles set-up as a youngster, Coach Wathey is in the process of relocating to Suffolk from Canada, and will join us in the summer.

"Jimmy (Steedman) put me in touch with Coach Wathey, and within three minutes of speaking with him, I asked him to join us." - Coach Arron MacDonald

"Benn's knowledge of the game is superb, he absolutely loves the game and watches more basketball than anyone I know. His passion for basketball and love of the game shone through in seconds, and I can't wait for him to join the Bulldogs Family."

"I'm extremely grateful and humbled to have been given the opportunity to join Coach Mac and the Bulldogs Family." - Coach Benn Wathey

"It's clear that the club is growing year-on-year, and has aspirations which I believe we can achieve together. Arron's passion and enthusiasm for the game is superhuman; I'm already learning from him 4,000 miles away and I simply can't wait to get started in the gym - It's going to be fun!"

Coach Wathey will join Coach MacDonald's National League Men's staff as Assistant Coach, as well as leading our U18 Men's side this season. He will also be one of our Coaches for our Summer Camp, which we're running in partnership with Culford School, get in touch with the team at Culford Sports Centre to book your place today!
