Bury St Edmunds Bulldogs' Local League Men's side beat top of the table Cambridge Cats 2 in a close game at Skyliner Sports Centre, eventually winning 59-55.
A second victory in five days keeps Bury in contention at the top of Cambridge League Division 2, having won away at Mildenhall Pirates on Wednesday.
The Bulldogs controlled the first half after closing the first quarter with 7-0 run, then extending their lead to 31-15 by halftime. Fortunes were reversed in the second half though, as improved defence and shot making by the Cats saw the lead reduced to 8 after three quarters and the game tied with six minutes left to play. Bury weren’t to be beaten though and scores by Jay Trye, Dave Wise and Oil Cowling restored a lead they wouldn’t let go again.
“It was a great team win” said Coach Dave Wise after the game, “the Cats are a strong team and don’t lose very often.”
Leading scorer for Bury was Sonjay Williams with 21 points, while Jay Trye added 11.
The Bulldogs now return to Suffolk League action away at Brightlingsea Cossacks on 12th February.
