Bury St. Edmunds Bulldogs Reserves are out of the Cambridge cup after a 48-42 home loss against Cambridge Cats at Skyliner on Sunday 3rd November.

As usual between these two sides it was a close match throughout. A free flowing first quarter ended with Bury leading 19-17 before defences took over for the rest of the game. Scores were tied after two and three quarters but in the fourth an 8-0 run by the Cats and an injury to Captain David Wise sealed the Bulldogs fate.

"It was a frustrating night for us," said the Bulldogs’ coach Glenn Collins. When you hold your opponents to less than 50 points you usually win the game but our offence just didn’t click tonight. We didn’t make the most of our opportunities and we paid for it.”

Sonjay Williams led the scoring for Bury with 10 points, followed by Jason Sykes with 8.

The turning point in the game was the injury to Captain David Wise

The Bulldogs return to Suffolk League action for their next fixture, away to Big Dog Ballin’ in Colchester on 12th November.
