With the season starting in earnest for Bury St. Edmunds Basketball Club’s first team and Under 17’s next weekend, the players were put through their paces by the coaches as final preparations were completed for the 2018/19 season.
Coach Seb Benford’s Under 17’s Team will Tip-Off their Anglian Basketball Alliance season next weekend, with a double header against Kings Lynn & Norwich-based Basketball in the Community.
Following a challenging Under 15’s campaign, the Bulldogs have strengthened, adding Brandon Marshall, Tom Dugdale, Patrick Laycock, Toni Laqué, Woody Jackson and Jim Walker to the roster, with several of these youngsters also competing for the club’s Senior Teams.

Coach Arron MacDonald’s side have just received their new kit for the season ahead, courtesy of Starting Five and Bigfoot Basketball, and excitement is building for the week ahead, as the Bulldogs first team have two games in three days, travelling to Clacton Cannons on Friday, before hosting Ipswich Saxons on Sunday 14th October.
With new signing, and leading rebounder in the Academies Basketball League from last season, Brad Day set to debut alongside other debutants Cameron Poolton and Patrick Laycock, the new-look Bulldogs will hope to hit the ground running.

Meanwhile, Brandon Marshall’s meteoric rise continues, as the world’s tallest teenager has made a winning start to life at the Colchester VI6 Basketball Academy under the tutelage of former professional player Tom Sadler. The big guys is averaging a double-double in recent back-to-back wins, whilst also earning selection for the Welsh Under 18’s FIBA Squad for the season ahead. While Brandon is currently out of action on the sidelines, his team is back in ABL action again this week.

Coach MacDonald said “We’re all so very proud of Brandon for what he’s achieved in a really short time at the club, and we look forward to watching his young career progress - whether he's at our club, in the ABL or with Wales, we know he's proud to always represent Bury St. Edmunds Basketball Club."
