Bury St. Edmunds Bulldogs Senior Men's Local League side visited Leopards on Friday in a Suffolk Cup quarter final.

The teams were well matched and the scores remained close throughout the first quarter. Jay Trye and Jason Sykes led the way for the Bulldogs who ended the quarter ahead by six points. Leopards fought back in the second quarter and after a couple of lead changes were back within three at halftime. The second continued to be close and the scores were tied at 37 when foul trouble and a loss of composure allowed Leopards to go on a 21-4 surge. A three point play by Glenn Collins stemmed the flow but Bulldogs found themselves trailing by fourteen going into the last period. The game returned to a tight battle in a low scoring fourth quarter, finishing 71-57 to Leopards. Coach Glenn Collins was disappointed after the game: "It was another game in which we showed we can match Division 1 teams but another game where we didn’t get the win. There was nothing between the teams for most of the game. It was decided in five minutes of the third quarter and we have to learn from that. The good news is we only have to wait a couple of days to play again and get a chance to put this behind us.” Leading scorers for the Bulldogs were Sykes (17) and Trye (14). Next up for the Local League Men in the Suffolk League is home match against Brightlingsea Sledgehammers on Sunday 28th November, 6:00pm at Culford Sports Centre.
