In 2019, the club ran our first ever basketball marathon fundraiser, with 15 participants dribbling 30 miles, passing 30 miles and scoring 15,000 points.

With the club not having been running for much of the time since the last fundraiser, you'd be forgiven for thinking that the players taking part in the Basketball Marathon may have struggled to surpass our previous records - but they absolutely smashed them!
With 21 players taking part (and better organisation and tracking) the club managed to dribble the ball 95.31 miles, and pass the ball 110.19 miles (a total combined distance of 205.5 miles) and score 20,729 points in a four hour window.
"I'm aching like crazy from taking part" said Coach Arron MacDonald "but it was an amazing day. To have twenty-one players attend from five of the seven teams across the club, and see the effort everyone put in was just amazing - it's a reminder of what a special club we have... we've covered the distance from Culford to Bury (in Lancashire) today!"
When it came down to effort, it's tough to look past the contributions of Chairman Ashley MacDonald and Club Captain Billy Smith - who combined for over 31 miles of distance between them; with the other members of the National League Men's side (Greg Richards, Ben Berwick and Coach MacDonald), taking the team's total to 6,106 points, 26.6 miles passed and 35.5 miles dribbled.
Meanwhile, the youngest team at the club - our U12's combined for 3,057 points, 27.25 miles passed and 13.55 miles dribbled!
Combined, the event has raised almost £400.00 for the club.
To wrap up, Coach MacDonald said "It was great to get members from across the club back together and on the floor fundraising. The aim next year has to be to get more people involved - and members from every team to participate - and to make this even bigger."
If you'd like to make a donation in light of the efforts of the players today, you can do so via the club's Paypal via the "donate" button on our homepage.
