In light of the government's announcement today regarding indoor team sports being limited to 6 participants, we wanted to update everyone with our present position.
We are currently awaiting formal guidance from Basketball England, which we expect to receive shortly.
In the meantime, we have made the decision not to commence the "Get Back Into Basketball" sessions (which were due to start on Friday 25th September), or to run this weekend's training sessions for U18 Men (who are currently operating on a trial basis) or Local League Men.
We will continue to run our other sessions this week with the specific remit of finalising squads, and giving our coaches the opportunity to assess our players in order to afford us the opportunity to provide specific, individual coaching to enable our players to develop their skills and athletic ability during any potential downtime.
These sessions will focus on individual skills and athletic performance, and will have some specific guidance applied - which will be shared directly with members and their parents.
In the event that our sport is limited to six attendees at any one indoor session, we are afraid that training would not be viable; this would be the case for both indoor sessions (due to the cost) and outdoors (due to the unpredictable weather brought about by the change in season).
Whilst this setback may be disappointing, our primary commitment is to the health, safety and wellbeing of every player, coach and volunteer who makes up the #BulldogsFamily. Whilst there's a chance that our plan may change following information from Basketball England, we're also committed to communicating openly and honestly with our community, and so wanted to share this information with you at the earliest opportunity.
We would ask that you keep an eye on our website and social media for further updates.
